Forming educators to transform Society

In her address, Stella Rose Akongo, the Principal of LGIHE, urged the graduates to carry forward the Institute’s vision of forming educators who combine competence with compassion.

“Education is never just the transfer of knowledge. It is an encounter that awakens the heart, provokes reason, and opens us to reality in all its richness,” Akongo said.

Equipped to transform

Dr. Mugenyi emphasized that the Ministry’s ongoing reforms in education policies and curricula seek to equip learners with holistic and practical competences. He said teachers trained at LGIHE are well positioned to lead that transformation.

“Your success is not the finish line. True happiness comes from using what you have learned to make the world better,” he added.
“You are not just teaching subjects from a book; you are the master builders of our future.”

The Academic Registrar, Ivan Kimpanga Mukibi, congratulated the graduates for their hard work and discipline, noting that this year’s graduation theme, “Inspiring Growth as Stewards of Learning,” calls educators to reflect on the transformative power of education.

“You have been prepared for a vocation, not just a profession,” Mukibi said. “True education is not the transmission of facts but a communication of desire. Your calling is to accompany learners as they discover their own journey.”
