LGIHE holds 3rd graduation ceremony

December 3 will always evoke pleasant memories for a resilient group of educators who were awarded with diplomas and certificates during Luigi Giussani Institute of Higher Education’s 3rd Graduation Ceremony at the institute’s campus in Luzira, Kampala.

At the colourful ceremony which started with a procession, I6 students graduated with diplomas in Primary Education, 42 with certificates in Early Childhood Care and Development and 10 walked away with certificates in Educational Leadership and Management.

The ceremony was presided over by Dr Robert Ayine, the senior higher education officer at the National Council for Higher Education, who lauded LGIHE for its contribution to the education sector in the country and for its standards and professionalism.

“LGIHE is among the few higher institutions of learning in the country which boast the most highly-qualified staff. The staff here have masters and PhDs,” Dr Ayine said.

Representing students, Grace Namara, who emerged as one of the best students in the Diploma in Primary Education category, said it had not been easy to complete studies during a pandemic, but that they made it because of LGIHE’s innovate teaching methods.

LGIHE, which was accredited as an institution of higher learning by the NCHE in 2013, is largely into teacher professional development through academic courses and other outreach capacity building programmes. The institution, which will soon be offering degree programmes, is still accepting applications for its February/April intake in courses such as Diploma in Primary Education, Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Development, Certificate in Educational Leadership and Management and Diploma in Educational Leadership and Management.
